About
I am Balannagari Pavan Kalyan, an equity research analyst.
What is a Variant View?
It is what separates research from the rest, a view formed through research that doesn't agree with consensus. That disagreement, backed by evidence, is the entire premise of this publication.
Background
During my internship at JM Financial, I learnt how to do research to find out which stocks to invest in. As part of the Equity Broking division, I conducted fundamental analysis on listed equities to support portfolio advisory for HNI clients, studied portfolio allocation across sectors, especially IT, where I analyzed market trends and company fundamentals to support investment recommendations, and assisted seniors in diversifying portfolios using various strategies.
I hold an MBA Finance (2026) from Bengaluru, along with the FMVA® and CMSA® certifications from the Corporate Finance Institute.
Why Indian IT sector?
Two reasons. One is genuine curiosity, I have always been drawn toward technology and being in Bangalore, it surrounds me. The other is my internship at JM Financial, studying HNI portfolio allocation gave me direct exposure to how the IT sector is analyzed and owned.
What you will find here
Every report I published on this is carefully evaluated and built on exhaustive research. A research that doesn't need to agree with consensus, but must agree with empirical evidence. Each report follow the same four-structure: the Street's view, the variant view, the evidence, and the risks.
